Crews with Outdoor Programs only. All top leaders are required to complete position-specific training in order for their units to re-charter during 2011 for the 2012 program year. All unit direct-contact leaders must be trained by the end of 2012. The instruction will help you learn how to set up camp, cook, work with woods tools and about ropes, first aid, planning campfire programs, map reading and compass skills, hiking and backpacking techniques, nature identification, and Leave No Trace. This outdoor session will bring to life the pages of the Boy Scout Handbook to help you deliver the promise of Scouting to yourself and the youth you serve. It will increase your comfort level and give you confidence as a trained, skilled leader. The program will also give you the opportunity to work with other Scout Leaders from your area, meet new friends, and reinforce skill techniques with fellow unit leaders. COST and Contact information: $10 (Friday Breakfast and Lunch). Payments will be accepted on-site only. PRE- REGISTRATION is required to allow for advance purchase of groceries and to insure a large enough camping site. Special dietary needs must also be known in advance.
