National Youth Leader Training Scouts have to be at least 1st class and selected by the Scoutmaster. The troop pays 1/2 of the cost.
Blake Island
4:30 PM to 2:00 PM
Blake Island State Park
Leaving from Manchester, we will canoe out to the island, three miles each way. Last time we were there we hiked 4 miles circumnavigating the whole island. The troop will provide most of the water related gear, however if scouts have their own Personal Flotation Devices (PFD) or paddles they are welcome to use them. If additional canoes are required we will rent them from Troop 1552 ($20/canoe w/gear for the weekend- if we get 4 or more, they will throw in the trailer) For meal planning purposes this will be more like car camping- we will have the chase boat bringing out more gear- the plan is to camp on the point (marine only campsite) on the westernmost point of the Island- We will need drivers in addition to the adults going on the trip to provide transportation to and from the event because there is no overnight parking where we will be launching from in Port Orchard. Please email Jeremy Schumacher if you can be a driver and I will add you as staff members to the campout.
